The Story - Halloween '05

Hi everyone! I have done a few layouts using last years Halloween photos already, but I still wanted to do one about how her costume actually came to be. The drawing is by my daughter... showing me what she wanted her costume to be like! A witch with a frilly skirt, a magic want, and of course she is holding some striped tights. As soon as she showed me, I knew I wanted to scrap it somehow. I scanned it, and then used Photoshop to add the text. The journaling is taken off of my blog from last year...
Journailing: I am going to go waaaaaaay back to last winter when Laine first told me that she wanted to be a cat for Halloween. I would ask her every now and then and yep, she still wanted to be a cat. So cat it was. Until this past month, she said a couple times that she wanted to be a horse... but still in the end... so we thought... it went back to cat. A cute little cat.
Then about a week ago, I had to stop at The Children's Place to pick Laine up some pants... bad strawberry sundae accident at DQ... strawberry mess all over her lap! ACK! That is when I saw this cute little frilly funky witch costume hanging on the wall. So, of course I thought, "gee Laine would look cute as a funky little witch!" ...and boy oh boy, would that save time! So much to do in these next few weeks before our Cuba trip, and not enough time! Later that day when we got home, I came online and showed her the picture. Right away it was "No! Witches are scary!" ...so ok? Back to cat.
UNTIL the next day when she came up to me and asked if she could be a PRINCESS WITCH! Yep, the little sweetie turned that funky costume into a princess witch costume. It definitely isn't an ordinary witch costume and she has quite the imagination! lol So I think, BONUS! No last minute sewing ...or begging my mom to sew it ...heee heeeeee! Simple right? I phone into the store here ...nope sold out! BUT THEY HAD IT ONLY 2 DAYS BEFORE! ACK! So, I phone all of the ones in Alberta ...and I mean ALL of them! NOPE, nothing... only small baby sizes. By now, she has her heart set on being a princess witch. Like I mean really set on it! Every time I hang up with another store, she asks if they have one for her. While I am on the phone searching, she draws this. This is her. This is her in her princess witch costume. She has a magic wand in one hand and she is holding her funky striped tights in the other ...tights! So I phoned the local Children's Place store back and ask if they have any of the accesories left ...they found me some striped tights ...YEAH BABY! At least we have striped tights right? lol I found a costume on ebay and was thinking of ordering it ...but it was across the border ...and things have been known to get hung up at the border! So, I phoned my mom to ask her some stuff and she ended up saying that she could sew it for her! ...nope, not what I was hoping for or anything! "wink wink" LOL So, off to the city we go. Laine and I met my mom at the fabric store, with internet pictures and Laine's drawing in hand. $50 later we leave the store with a bag of fabric and all the goodies we needed... and one happy little girl.
