• Print a border on your layout and cut around it

1. To print a border on my layout here is what I did. Open a new 8.5 x 11 inch document-layout (300 dpi). Open the Funky Checkerboard Rectangle from the 2 Peas Borderlines 2 kit and copy and paste it onto my layout. Print it onto white cardstock using the best photo and matte photo paper settings. Cut it out.

2. To print the Wintertime Element (under the photograph on the layout) from the 2 Peas A Cold Winter’s Night kit onto transparency, I first opened a new document (letter size). I loaded my brushes from the 2 Peas A Cold Winter’s Night Kit. I started a new layer. I made my foreground color black. I used the Wintertime brush and stamped it onto my page. **tip: whenever I’m going to print on a transparency, I try to select several elements from digital kits and fit them all onto a 8.5 x 11 inch document and print them all at once. ***another tip: when printing on transparencies, use the draft or text mode. This way your printer doesn’t put out as much ink and there is less chance of the ink smearing. Cut out the transparency to fit your layout. Staple, brad or tie onto your layout.

3. To make a photo mat for your picture, first crop your photo to the opening size of your frame, mine is 5x5 inches. The frame I used is the Newspaper Square from the 2 Peas Old News Frames kit. (see screen shots) I copied and pasted the frame on top of my photo. I used the Free Transform tool to stretch the frame a little to make the opening wider. I opened the Big Stripe paper from the 2 Peas Fun & Games kit and resized it to 6x6 inches and rotated it clockwise. I copied and pasted it onto my frame. I used a clipping mask (for Photoshop – grouping for PSE – there is a tutorial on clipping masks and grouping in the digital section of 2 Peas) to attach the striped paper to the frame. I printed it out onto luster paper and put it in an old wooden frame.

4. Printing on a shipping tag is simple. First open a new document the same size as your tag – mine was 3x6 inches. Load the brushes you’re going to use. I used the Way 2 Go brush from the 2 Peas Talking in Circles kit. Start a new layer. Tip: Each time you use a brush (stamp) do it on it’s own layer so that you easily change the size, location and color at a later time. Stamp your brush in the center of your document. Print out onto regular paper. Using removable tape, masking tape or removable adhesive, attach your tag to the paper directly over where you want the image to appear and then run back through your printer. See photo example. Finish your tag by adding patterned paper, ribbon and bling.

You’ll find the borders that I used in the 2 Peas Bold Borders kit. **Tip: I like to print on matte photo paper rather than cardstock when I'm printing colors other than black. The colors will appear more sharp and rich when printed on photo paper.
