Hello stampers! Welcome to Week 3 of Stamp Camp here at Two Peas in a Bucket! This week, I am excited to show you some cards using Markers. First, we will create a card with multiple colors and then second, create a card by omitting parts of the stamp with markers.
The first card show is the pink/green/brown "Thinking of You" card. For this technique, you will need some markers (I love markers that have the broad/thick tip on one end and the fine tip on the other), cardstock and a stamp (fine line stamps work great for this - anything that you want to color different colors).
I used this awesome flower stamp from a new set in the store from Amy Butler. I put it on my acrylic block and then colored the petals of the flower with my pink marker. I like to use the broad/thicker tip for coloring on my stamps. If you need to get into a tight corner, you can always use the fine tip. I then took a darker pink marker and colored over the middle/center of the flower to give it some shading so there would be two tones of pink on the flower.
I then took a brown marker and colored the stem. Then, I colored the leaves with two different shades of green markers to, once again, give them a very 'real-life' look with the shading of two tones.
Once your image is completely colored with ink from the markers, you will need to breathe or "huff" on your stamp to re-moisten the ink and then stamp it on your cardstock. When you remove the stamp, you will see that you have a beautiful multi-colored stamped image.
I also colored the "Thinking of You" stamp with a pink and green marker, stamped it on Kraft cardstock and cut it into a strip. I assembled the card with some sewing and attached the saying strip with pop-dots so it stood off the card and flower a bit for added dimension.
For the SECOND card, I used the technique of using markers to omit parts of a stamp that I do not want to be on my project. I used this great damask stamp, again from Amy Butler, that had the word Cheers in it. I didn't want that to show for the background, so I colored the stamp with the broad/thick end of my brown markers and didn't color the word 'Cheers' in the middle. I huffed on the stamp and stamped it on the brown notecard. I repeated this process until the entire background of my card was covered with the brown damask image.
I then cleaned my stamp very well. I took a brown and red marker and colored the word "cheers" on the same stamp (colored the letter 'h' red and the rest brown) and then stamped it on cream cardstock. I then cut it out in a small strip and glued it to the card in the upper left hand damask shape.
I added a few strips of cardstock, some machine sewing and a die-cut butterfly from Amy Butler.
I love using these techniques on my projects! I love getting different colors on one stamp so quickly and easily. I love the way that it looks when you stamp the image. And I love using markers to omit parts of stamps - it really helps me to be able to get a lot of different uses out of my stamps.
Try looking at your collection of stamps and think about ways that you can use them with markers - both to get multiple colors and also to omit parts of the images for a new image all together!
If you have any questions, please head to the thread in the Education Forum where I will be around to help and chat! Also, don't forget to download the PDF here so you have easy direction to follow while you are creating! I can't wait to see your projects! Be sure to post them to the correct challenge so that you can be entered to win some stamp goodies!
