Classes : Stamp Camp [Spring 2009] : Week 1 - Stamping with Bleach
By Robyn Werlich
Hello Peas! :)
Welcome to week 1 of the Spring Stamp Camp Session! We had so much fun at Stamp Camp last year and if your new to it...just jump right in. :)
To kick of our Spring Stamp Camp, I have a class for you today about Stamping with Bleach. Have you ever tried to do this? It is so much fun! When you stamp with bleach on cardstock, the bleach "eats away" at the colored pigments in the cardstock and turns them white or cream or whatever is the most natural color in that cardstock. Once you make your bleach ink-pad, grab many different shades of cardstock and stamp with bleach on each one. You'll love the results as the shades that appear on the cardstock will be different from one another.
You can use both wood mounted stamps and acrylic stamps for this technique. And try different types of stamps - bold images, outline images...you'll see how fun it is and how you can get such varying effects with each one.
I've created a video for you to show you exactly how to go about stamping with bleach and it also shows the cards that I created using some great stamps from Hero Arts and Autumn Leaves. This is my first video, so be easy on me! LOL! The quality isn't great but I hope that the visual will help you with creating your own 'bleach ink-pad.'
Go here to download the PDF with instructions and photos.
Tip: Try sticking to cardstock for this technique. It doesn't work very good with patterned paper - although you can experiment and see what works best for you.
Tip: Get all your papers and stamps ready to go so that once you pour your bleach on your 'ink-pad', you can stamp, clean your stamps and discard of the bleach asap. I always stamp lots of extra images so I can use them later on other projects.
Have fun! Once you watch the video and download the PDF, head on over to the Education Forum to chat with us about stamping with bleach! I hope that you'll give it a try - it's easy and so much fun!
