Themed Projects : Embroidery Hoop Minibook
By Shimelle Laine

Once I get into a mini-book craze, I start seeing everything around me for its potential to become part of the book's structure.  This stack of embroidery hoops didn't stand a chance -- the size was perfect and the metal clamp works perfectly as a bookspine, so it's possible to hold everything together without drilling holes or adding extra hardware.

To create the pages, use double-sided patterned paper and trace the inside hoop.  Cut out that circle, but cut well away from the pencil line -- you want to leave just a little less than the thickness of the hoop's side.  Choose which side will sit flat on the hoop and which one will be in the background, so you know which side to add just a bit of adhesive around the edge.  Then carefully add the outer frame and tighten it into place.  Once the pages are intact, you can scrap away just like normal!  Remember you'll have the added dimension created by the frame, so on some pages you can attach elements to the frame and it will hover over the page.

With all your pages finished, thread ribbon through the clamps and tie a pretty bow!

Many thanks to Jon Madison for taking the photos. :)
