Tearing paper. I'm pretty sure you've been tearing paper since before you were in Kindergarten. I'll bet you are pretty good at it. Have you tried using it with your scrapbooking?
First, for the tutorial: How to tear paper. Take the desired paper, lay it down on a flat surface. Or hold it in your hands. Either way. Now rip the paper by moving it in different directions at the same time. That sounded way more complicated than it is. Just rip the paper. One thing to keep in mind is how you want the torn edge to look. I like the raw edge to show, the white core. So to do that, I pull up on the side I plan to discard. (see example 1)
One fun tip: Use double-sided paper. On this layout, I tore one side, leaving the raw side alone for a white "border" to my patterned paper. On the other side, I wet the edge a bit and rolled it over to expose the orange reverse side of the paper.
And that's just the beginning! Tear paper to make flowers. And grass. And interesting edges. Layer torn papers. You might get carried away, but that's ok. It's only paper!
