Journaling tags, cards, stickers, stamps, digi elements, rubons etc. are some of my favorite products to use in scrapbooking. There is something about lined elements that appeals to my natural style and sensibilities. I believe the first time I saw a journaling card was a few years ago by 7 gypsies. Basically the cards simplified the journaling process. They allowed you a little spot to handwrite your thoughts, but the format of the card also looked cute. Since then lots of various products have made their way into the market. Whatever your preference (be it stamps or digi or paper ) there are several styles of journal type products to chose from.
Shannon used lots of cool journaling type products on her layout. The journaling block and journaling stickers she used from Jenni Bowlin's product line are awesome for writing in some quick details. I also think its cool how Shannon customized the journaling card by putting hole reinforcements on it and tying ribbon through it. By doing so she gave the generic notecard some personal flair.
I believe Jamie too used a Jenni Bowling journaling card. I think the way she embellished around it looks fantastic. Look at how she brought in shape and trims and cool chipboard elements to frame the original journaling card. It all blends in so wonderfully - so Jamie-esque. Looks fantastic!
Cindy used chipboard journaling prompts on her layout. The cool thing with chipboard is that it adds a bit of dimension to your page. She also took the opportunity to use the prompts of the Making Memories background paper as places to write notes about the pictures. I love seeing Cindy's writing on this page. I think journaling spots/cards/tags etc are awesome because they allow you to show just a little splash of your handwriting on your layouts. Most journaling cards are not large - they dont require a ton of writing. For those individuals that aren't totally comfortable with their handwriting, journaling cards allow them just the right amount of space for displaying the heritage of their handwriting.
Amy's sweet birthday card was made using a Creative Cafe die cut. These die cuts are some of my favorites because they are packaged with lots of variety. This particular set that Amy used comes with various shapes and colors all in one package and for one price. Amy shows the versatility of these journaling die cuts well. Their usage isn't just limited to scrapbooking layouts.
Joy's layout using Heidi Swapp journaling spots makes me smile so big. It totally appeals to what Im loving about scrapbooking right now: lots of pictures and lots of writing. She used the jouranling posts just like a post it - highlighting the picture's topic. I love that. The Heidi Swapp journaling spots are an amazing product, imho. In one package you get SEVERAL journaling papers to use - like 10 each of each style shown. This product lasts me a long time and for $3.50 you cant beat the price.
Journaling spots/cards/tags were created as a small place for scrapbookers to add a smidget of journaling, but they arent limited to that purpose. On Stacey's page she used the Making Memories journaling notebook paper as a design element - not a journaling place. Do you see it in the top right corner? The pink grid lines on the paper and neat scalloped edge fit in perfectly with the design and topic of her page. I think it looks super cool!
In the past few years we've seen manufacturers come out with different types of journaling products that are not limited to paper. One of the most popular recent products for quick journaling has been in the form of stamps. Jennifer Pebbles used some Autumn Leaves stamps on her colorful page. The stamps are very versatile in that you can use them anywhere and on anything. Jennifer used them on vellum and then used a smear free pen to write out her journaling. Other journaling stamps can be found in the two peas shopping area by Hero Arts, Fontwerks, 7 gypsies and Basic Grey.
There are a few journaling type products in the form of rubons out there. I know that Autumn Leaves has made some and Hambly Studios too. The ones I used on my page are by Jenni Bowlin. Im a big Jenni Bowling fan and I prefer rubons to stamps. Using these was fun and I love that I was able to write smidgets of information regarding the photos all around the photos.
Grace's layouts used another form of journaling cards: digital. The library card element was bought here at Two peas in a kit made by Cherie Mask. How cool is that? I have often been tempted to try digi scrapping because of the cool journaling, lined type elements there are to play with.
Im going to attach some of my favorite journaling type products to this seed. Check them out in the shopping section of two peas. :) |
