This week's digital challenge is to use your color/eyedropper tool.

This is one of my favorite things, and I use it on almost every layout.

For this particular layout, I chose to pick up the colors from the super-cute hair clips that Carina Gardner, Jen Allyson, and I made at a recent digital scrapbooking event. By using the eyedropper tool, I can ensure that everything I add onto my page will match perfectly.

First, I picked up the aqua from the button on my flower. I used that to fill a complete layer, and then masked that onto the Spot Color Border Circle.

Next, I selected the dusty pink from the button on Carina's flower. I chose a brush from her Imprints collection, and added the swirl.

Lastly, I used the eyedropper tool to pick up the chartreuse from my flower, and added another swirl from the Imprints v.3.

I was able to completely tailor my layout to match my photo, which would have been difficult using pre-made designs. (Just remember, the tool is precise, and most elements will be made up of many colors. Click around until you find the one you like.)

Consider using the eyedropper tool to emphasize an unusual eye color, match your journaling to your elements, or simply to recolor some elements or brushes, like I did.
