Trend Watch : Acrylic Stamps!
By Tracy Miller

The hottest thing in scrapbooking right now seems to be acrylic stamps. Everyone is making them - companies who have been making stamps for years, and companies that are just getting into the stamping business now. They are so easy to use. They stick without any adhesive to a clear block - or to anything that you have handy to stamp with, in a pinch. And they are really easy to store because they take up so little space compared to mounted stamps. What more can you ask from a scrapbooking product?

I'm actually not a big stamper, but I haven't been able to resist accumulating quite the little stash of clear stamps. My favorite kinds are the random sorts of shapes, because they are so versatile. For this layout, I used them to make the background just a little more interesting. I dug out my brown ink pad from back in the day when I used to ink everything, and stamped some shapes into the background paper. I also used a zig zag stamp from the same set to add some "stitches" through the background.

Supplies:
KI Memories Clear graphic stamps
American Crafts Patterned Paper
American Crafts Felt flowers and letter stickers
White brads
Quote flag sticky notes
Brown ink pad
Black pen

Directions
1. Trim patterned paper to 11.5x11.5" and attach to solid brown background cardstock.
2. Ink stamps and stamp patterns into the background squares. I actually cut the same color paper out of a coordinating sheet, stamped those, and then mounted them over the existing squares. Some of the stamped squares I overlapped the photo and journaling with as well. Use zig zag stamp on white space between squres.
3. Trim white cardstock paper to 8.5x8.5. Attach one 4x6 and one 4x4 photo to white background and center on stamped page.
4. Spell out title on right side of page, above 4x4 photo. Use quote boxes to highlight title. I had post-it flags that I used for this, but you could do the same thing with a word processing program. Create a text book, insert quotation mark in white typeface, and fill the box with coordinating color. Trim and attach to page.
5. Hand journal on white strips and attach to page. Use asterick symbol to highlight journaling.
6. Attach felt flowers and brads.
