Themed Projects : page 2
By Joanna Bolick

Remember this layout? No, of course you don't. Why? Because it was hiding behind my Layout of the Day ("Summit") the other day. haha. I'm tricky. (I've posted the cover page below, that you may have seen already or chose to forget.) What I wanted to show you (in a round-about way it seems) is an easy way to get a lot of photos and journaling on your page without it being the main focus of the page. Hence, this calendar of our day-to-day lives is hidden behind the main page, and you can access the calendar by simply lifting up the first page. A calendar page is not original by any means, but I wanted to combine both the front page and the calendar because the focus of the front page is "peaceful," which was in direct contrast with the rest of our hectic October. So I placed more emphasis on a specific date, October 18th, by featuring it on the front. That was the best day! And then I hid the mess that was the rest of October behind it.

supplies:
ledger paper
black pen
ruler
calendar rub-ons
various stamps
various photos trimmed down from 2" x 2"

Directions:
1. Create 10" x 10" grid on a 12"x 12" page. My cover page, which is attached to the calendar page with machine stitching, is 11" x 11" so I wanted to make sure that the calendar is smaller and therefore hidden behind the cover page.
2. Use American Crafts mini marks to quickly add rub-on numbers to each date on the grid.
3. Print out 2" x 2" photos (or use a square punch to trim photos already printed) that reflect things that happened during the month. True to form, I printed way more photos than neccessary, and ended up using 14 of them.
4. Add photos to days on the calendar, and journaling on open spots.
5. Add rub-on phrases or illustrations. Add stamped phrases.
6. Use a white pen to add additional journaling on top of photos. Add calendar dates on top of photos if you don't like having them covered up by the photo.

PS. Directions for the cover page can be found here.
