| This bird and tree in Tia's newest digital kit "Little Grove Brushes" is PERFECT for not only adding a little whimsy to your scrapbook pages but also for making a quick, cute birthday card.
I added papers to it from the 2 Peas Pomp & Circumstance digital kit to give it an added punch of color. The instructions below on how to do this are for Photoshop and Elements.
1. Load the Little Grove brushes onto your computer.
2. Open a new 5x7 document.
3. Begin a new layer and choose a dark brown as your foreground color.
4. Stamp the tree and then start a new layer above that and stamp the bird.
5. Select your tree layer and hold down the Control button while clicking on the New Layer Icon.
6. Select the brush tool and a medium round brush. Make your foreground color light blue. Paint the outside (the part that is blue polka dots) of the tree.
7. Open the blue polka dot paper from the Pomp & Circumstance digi kit and resize it to 4x4 at 300 dpi. Copy it and paste it onto your layout. It should appear as a layer right above the layer you painted blue. Press Alt+Control+G to group the paper onto the layer you just painted.
8. Repeat steps 5-7 for the red polka dots on tree & bird and again for the yellow polka dots on the tree and bird. Use the yellow and red polka dot paper from the Pomp & Circumstance kit to group onto those parts.
9. Type sentiment underneath including brackets using the 2 Peas Journaling Dingbats font.
10. Print it out (I printed it on matte photo paper so the colors would be crisp) and trim to approx. 4x6.
11. Cut a 5x7 card out of white cardstock.
12. Glue the Bird and Tree piece to the center of the card.
13. Cut the edges from a sheet of Honeydew Victorian paper and glue around the center piece as shown.
14. Using the Bam Pop clear thought bubble stamp and a black KI ink pad, stamp a thought bubble inside the card.
15. Add a KI "happy birthday" softy inside the thought bubble.
