So cool to see how you mixed and matched digital product to create these - and I'll say it again, love the way the photos look printed on textured cardstock- almost like canvas!

Welcome to the first of our special Holiday Cardmaking Weekends to help you enjoy crafting your holiday cards this year!

For this set of cards, I wanted to focus on putting a twist on the traditional Christmas colour scheme. Instead of red and green, I paired red with blue and green with brown and made three cards to demonstrate the look! All of the cards are made with Two Peas digital kits, then I printed them on white cardstock on my home printer. You could also print on photo paper (at home or via a photo processing lab) if you prefer glossy or smooth paper to the matte textured finish of cardstock.

The first card, Holiday Joy, is shown step by step on the class PDF worksheet (click to download) [twopeasinabucket.com] so you can follow along even if you're just trying digital crafting for the first time. It includes two papers to make the background, then a selection of embellishments, a strip of photographs and a word brush to add the greeting over the top.

The second card, Sending Peace & Joy from Wonderland, is super easy as it's a digital card kit. I just dropped in my photo and added a few words of extra text. After I printed this card, I dressed it up with some paper goodies - a tag, some gems, a scrap of paper, a flower and a die-cut star.

The final card, Happy Holidays, includes lots of digital goodies that I layered over the red digi paper background. There's no photograph on this card, and all of the layers have a shadow added to give the design a finished look.

Now it's your turn! To enter this challenge, make a holiday card with a spin on the traditional colour scheme. Try red with something other than green… green with something other than red. Use your imagination or your colour wheel, but try something different than the traditional red and green routine!

Make sure to check the box for this challenge in step 4 of the upload process. You have through December 2nd to submit your project to the challenge; the winner of the challenge will be announced on the Education message board December 3rd and will receive a prize pack from one of our generous sponsors!
