Happy Holidays!

I created a project that can be pulled out year after year as part of your holiday decorations. I made something similar to this a few years ago for Halloween [twopeasinabucket.com] and it's been a family favorite every year. I decided to create a similar project for Christmas, although this would work for any theme you'd like- summer, fall, a birthday, or just everyday photos!
I really love working on each individual compartment…making each one a little piece of art.

In this seed, I've shown you several step by step photos as I created this Artist Tray. I've also created a PDF that you can print out which shows close up photos and explains in greater detail how each compartment was created.
photo 2- My beginning stash. I pulled out any and all product I might use for this project–patterned paper, stickers, punches, embellishments, etc.
photo 3 - A close-up of the top of my tray. I punched a strip of patterned paper and added a border sticker on top, then glued it to the top of the tray.
photo 4 - A close-up of one of the tray compartments. I added a heart cut from patterned paper on top of a chipboard heart, then punched a bird and adhered that on the set of hearts.
photo 5 - A Maya Road envelope, embellished with punched hearts, a sticker, gemstones and pink embroidery floss.
photo 6 - A loopy die cut piece of paper, spritzed with Maya Mist for a creative background.
photo 7 - 2 doilies painted with acrylic paint dabbers (I ended up not using the bigger doily in this project.
photo 8 - The finished piece–combining the misted background and the painted doily (with a sticker in the center).
photo 9 - don't be afraid of the mess you will create! My desk is usually not this messy!…but having such a fun project to display in my home made up for the hours of clean-up I had to do ;)

I'd like to challenge you to create some type of altered printer's tray or altered wall decoration. If you'd like to play along, you have until January 2nd to upload your project in the Member Gallery. Be sure to check the appropriate challenge box when uploading. You'll have a chance to win a prize too! Yippee! The winner will be announced on the Education Board on January 3rd.
Good Luck!
