Event Lesson - Connecting with Creativity: Collaborating - Recipe Album by RebeccaLeighann posted 05/16/11 Galleries: Scrapbooking, Home Decor My family loves great food. Nearly all fellowship involves sitting around the dinner table eating really great food. When I got married in 2006, my sister threw me a bridal shower. In each invitation, she had the great idea of also including a blank recipe card. On the recipe cards was a small printed label that read: "The ingredients for a successful marriage: a lot of love and many questions to 'What's for dinner?' Please write down your favorite recipe and bring it with you to Becky's bridal shower!" The idea was wonderful! Nearly all of the guests that attended my shower brought their recipe cards with yummy recipes on them. I have always wanted to create an album to record this great memory that my husband and I were blessed with. My Creative Process: 1. Create recipe cards using a digital kit by re-typing them onto a digital recipe card in Photoshop. 2. Printing out my photos I wanted to use of each recipe owner. 3. Deciding on a layout design that I would repeat for each layout in the album. 4. Embellishing with a title, a few repetitive borders, and clusters of embellishments. My album is 8X8, and each layout is stored nicely in a clear protective sleeve. I plan to keep this album in my kitchen on display for use when I make those great recipes, and also for my family and friends to see when they visit! And just maybe they will add more recipes to the album ;) A FEW PRODUCT TIPS AND TRICKS: a. on image #10, the pan was created using a Maya Road Chipboard element that I covered with a Pearlescent Mixing Medium, like the House Of 3 Soiree Glimmer Mist Set [twopeasinabucket.com]. It created a perfect baking pan look! B. Image #9, I did not have a photo for the layout. Problem was solved with a little creative embellishing. I used the woman sticker from October Afternoon's Modern Homemaker card stock set to create the layout, and keep the layout design similar. Be sure to download the PDF [twopeasinabucket.com] for more tips and detailed tricks of layout design and placement! Now it's your turn! I challenge you to create a layout using an old family favorite recipe that was given to you by a friend or family member! Create your layout (with OR without a photo!) and post it in the gallery and Jamie will draw and announce the winner on the Education board June 1st. Be sure to click on the appropriate challenge box when submitting your layout, so that you can be entered to win!!! And most of all have fun creating while connecting to your family members :) |
