This weeks picks are a bit more muted in tone rather the bright that I have picked for the last few weeks. Though, I noticed I am still trending towards the aqua blue-ish colors. The paper collections this week are all older collections. When I say older, I don't mean 2001, but rather 2009. But as quickly as things are being released in our industry, papers from last year are considered old. They might be from last year, but they are still some of my favorites.
First is the Girl Friday collection from Cosmo Cricket. I love the spectrum of colors in this collection, a limey-pea green, a teal, a lighter teal, a rosey pink, orange– all fun and would be thought of as bright in most cases, but have been toned down in this collection… some cute patterns with more subtle patterns on the B sides. I like the ledger papers. I used the tealy one on this sample layout. I like to use the ledger papers for backgrounds, as I did here, but I will also cut them or punch them into journaling spots.
The next collection is the Be Loved collection from My Minds Eye. It was one that they brought out mid-year, a more valentine-ish collection. The colors and B side patterns are what drew me initially to this collection. Again, its a muted rosey pink, and a tealy blue with darker and lighter shades of each as accent. The patterns are paisleys and flowers and circles. and the B sides are tone on tone swirls, dots, fine lined stripes…. each looking almost hand-drawn. I like how they matched with the Girl Friday collection.
and the last paper collection is a selection of October Afternoon papers. October Afternoon has a lot of great collections, like Cosmo Cricket and My Minds Eye, that we have kept around because they are just great all around collections and have consistently been good sellers even though they are older and not the latest release. I chose the Weathervane, Hometown and Night Light collections. In these collections there are several black and white patterns that have been really popular, the houndstooth, the Norms News and Katie (book page print) papers. The other colors in these collections are also muted and match really well with the other paper collections that I picked this week. And of course, there is a cloud paper that I love that I had to use again this week. Sorry about that.

For my letter stickers this week, as promised I am using the Flocked Shin-Dig stickers from Doodlebug. As I mentioned last week when I used the glitter ones, I like the different font and case styles in this sticker sheet. I also like the contrast the flocked sticker gives to the titles. I like to mix it up. I also picked the Salutations Fabric Thicker Stickers from American Crafts. Again, the different texture is attractive to me. These ones are muted in color…. the black is almost a washed out black and not a harsh black. I like the handwritten cursive font. I like mixing that up with the other fonts. I also threw in a couple of other small mini letter stickers from American Crafts, like the ones from last week, I like to use the mini letter stickers for their different font choices. I like to use them for the middle words in a long title, or a date or something. The Chickadee set only has one font choice, and is all upper case. Where the other set is several sizes and font choices in a whole booklet. you get a lot of letters in each book.
My last pick is a label sticker set from Martha Stewart. I love label stickers. I love to use them for journaling, dates and other bits of design elements on my pages. I have actually had these Martha ones for quite some time and have gone through several packages. There are 2 sheets included one that has the small rectangle shaped stickers and one with varying circles. The color of the outline borders on these matched really well with the colors of the papers I selected this week.
