This is a year long project I am working on… I usually don't share personal things of this nature, but Jamie thought it would a perfect project to share with this event. I am working on this to record my journey through my own Happiness Project, based on the book of the same name by Gretchen Rubin.
Each month I am working on a set of goals and questions based on a particular topic. I am very far behind and am only sharing the first month here, or parts and pieces of it. Unfortunately, this album is not even close to being completed. The cover is a work in progress…. I will continue to add to this all year long. As well as the inside cover that I am currently doodling on. Each month I have added something to that doodle space that is representative of my current state, even if it has nothing to do with the month's topic. Just for my own fun and amusement.
I am using a no-longer available album from Pink Paislee. It's canvas, which allowed me to paint it and texturize it. Though I may have to switch to an American Crafts Modern Album, which will allow me to put more pages in it. I can see where this one will get very tight very soon.
But, in doing this project, I am using a large amount of supplies. I share a lot of actual products I have used, or am using in the video, as well as a lot of items that would work great for your own project of the same nature.
Paints, markers, sprays, inks, gels, and all other methods of coloring things are my best friends right now. I have a whole basket of sprays, inks and markers on my desk that I dig through each day. I love the watercolor pencils and am loving using the different tip sizes of black journaling pens to create doodles all over this album. I doodle all the time anyway, just not on any of my projects. Just my day to day stuff. So this is particularly fun for me. And then coloring them in with the watercolor pencils and markers.
I am using a lot of paper scraps, and not a lot of whole sheets of anything in particular. Other than Kraft cardstock, which is always on my list of main products that I must have.
Each month is a different color, based on my feeling about that color and how it matches the month's topic. This first month was red, so everything on my desk is red currently. I went through my stash and all of the different product type bins and pulled out red letter stickers, red labels, red die cuts, red tickets, red papers, brads, buttons, ribbons, and everything else I could find that was red. There are so many great die cuts out there right now, and I still have a ton from various collections throughout the years. I am being very creative to use the items that I have been carrying around for years and it feels very good to use them.
I also am using quite a few stamps. I really like the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamps. I show several in the video that accompanies this project. There are so many motifs and icons that fit my style perfectly.
