Project - Dutch Dare #2 Places we Live

This is my Dutch Dare #2 layout. The words on the layout:Well, it might look like Holland but it's not. It's Pella Iowa USA. Pella was settled by Dutch immigrants in 1847 and the log cabin was actually built in the early 1840's. The Dutch left Holland because they wanted religious freedom. Many of our store fronts and buildings still resemble streets in Holland. The bakeries are still owned and operated by the descendants of the original settlers. Jaarsma Bakery is a stop for most tourists. Pella has celebrated the arrival of the tulips each May by a festival which attracts nearly 200,000 visitors each year. There are parades, Dutch foods, Dutch dancing and all sorts of costumes from each of the provinces of Holland. I am a descendant from people who left Leyden in the early 1600's. Blending into the new, you will find Dutch architecture everywhere. It is a requirement for most businesses. Have you ever seen a Dutch Walmart? We are getting one soon. It is under construction right now. As you can see, it has Dutch architecture on the front of the building! We also have a working windmill right downtown. It was made in Holland and brought over in pieces and reassembled just a few years ago. We also have the Mohlegracht. It has a canal running down the middle of it. There are businesses and condominiums along the canal. So…as you can see, Pella is a Touch of Holland and now a home for me.
