Project - Faux Batik Technique - Blue Stars by peebsmama posted 06/29/07 at 07:27 PM Galleries: Stamping I was home sick from work the other day (stomach virus) and I caught an episode of the Carol Duvall show where Tim Holtz had shown how to do the faux batik technique. I had seen this segment before but had never tried it. I had all the supplies - always a plus when you don't have to go out and buy anything - so I decided to give it a try. I'm pretty pleased with how the blue paper I created turned out. Since I wanted to use as large a piece as possible to really show it off, I came up with this simple layout. Swirly stars and the single blue star are SU, sentiment is Stampabilities, smaller stars are a punch. You can't tell from the scan, but I edged the blue panel with silver ink and used my gel sparkle pen to outline the stars for some sparkle.

I posted some quickie instructions on how to do this technique on the stamping message board. |

This turned out great! I've done this technique before (have about 8 bottles of water & reinkers just for it), but not with the black inkpad part. That adds such an interesting dimension. My mind is churning with the possibilities of it! Thanks for teaching it too us!

So pretty. I caught that episode, too. Anytime I see Tim is on, I'm there. He's so talented.
