Project - Themed Projects : Holiday Journal (Monochromatic)
Galleries: Altered Projects
Monochromatic: Here, I've used a monochromatic color scheme with the color yellow. There are varying shades of cream, yellow, and white throughout. I also added the neutral color black to finish the look.
I am participating in Shimelle's “Journal Your Christmas” class this holiday season, and so I wanted to make a pretty “journal” I could use. I wanted something monochromatic and pretty, yet still totally functional as far as having lots of space to write.
Here, I've used a Maya Road 8x8 ringed binder, decoupaged the outside and inside with paper, and filled the inside with lined papers instead of the chipboard pages it came with.
The new holiday die cutting CD from Quickutz for the Silhouette had some really cool images in it that I wanted to include, starting with the nativity motif on the cover of the book. I also used the Silhouette to make the die-cut month and year letters.
Each journaling page is cut from various lined patterned papers. The larger pieces are stamped with a label stamp from Purple Onion Designs, and then heat embossed with a fine silver embossing powder. Each of the pages have a circular stamp from 7Gypsies with a space for the date to be applied, either with a rub-on, or by hand.
There are also some extra pages here and there with a cool frame from Danielle's digital kit that was printed out onto textured cardstock.
Finally, bits and pieces of all kinds of new and vintage lace are added to pages and also directly onto the rings of the binder.
