Treasures in life aren't what you buy it's the people you spend time with and learn from. I took Cynthia to meet my fourth grade teacher Mrs. Holms one afternoon. Cynthia is going into fourth grade this year and I thought it would be wonderful for her to meet my favorite teacher. It's not everyday you can do something like this, I'm 58 and my teacher is 103 now. Her mind is as good as ever and she told us stories, talked about buying penny candy, going to a one room school house and teaching school.
Cynthia warmed right up to her and gave her a big hug when we left. We then went to the school I went to, took some pictures and I told her about her great- grandmother, myself and her mother all going to the same school.
Of course we rounded out the day stopping for ice cream, just the way to spend a summer afternoon.
When I was leaving all I could think of was some of the words to this song:
Don't blink
You just might miss your babies growing like mine did
Turning into moms and dads the next thing you know your better half
Of fifty years is there in bed
And your praying God takes you instead
Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster than you think
So don't blink
Best start putting first things first.
Cause when your hour glass runs out of sand
You can't flip it over and start again
Take every breath God gives you for what it's worth.
