This is a layout of my youngest, Helena, as she waits by the front door for Granny Sue to arrive. The photo was very dark to begin with and I was tired of trying to “fix” it, so instead, I just applied a VP filter to it and changed its blending mode to luminosity.

Journaling reads: Mommy?
Yes, babe?
When is Granny coming?
Any minute now.
But I don’t see her.
She’ll be here.
But when?
When she gets here.
But when is that?
When you see her.
But I don’t see her!
Because she’s not here yet.
Oh.
(Pause)
Mommy?
Hmmm?
I’m patient.
Yes peanut, you sure are.
