Thanks, Patty, I think you're right. Next time I might bump the ISO a bit so I can use a faster SS, since they're too far away for flash in a situation like this.

Ok, I am so NOT qualified to do this...but here's my amatuer (first) attempt at cc...Love the color saturation- and the angle is great - not too much, so I don't get sea-sick like when I try angles LOL...

In the second one...it looks like the focus fell on her right shoulder...but again, this is my first time saying stuff out loud - I've been lurking on the CC stuff for months now and trying to practice my own eye...

I agree about the ss - faster with that lens I think - I have it too and find that I need to keep it as fast as possible, otherwise my pics are too soft all around.

Again, this is my first time, so I may be completely off on this!

A pic of my daughters and MIL out for a walk with the new puppy. Second photo is at 100% crop. Can you tell me why it's blurry/OOF? I was using my Nikon 55-200 mm VR lens at 200mm, f/8, 1/160. Faster shutter speed at that focal length maybe? Too much shake for the VR to handle? Would love some feedback.
