Project - Themed Projects : Kawaii Cupcake Birthday Card

I love the new Kawaii series of digital treats from Kitschy Digitals here at Two Peas! This cupcake is super cute and super versatile, and only 99 cents!

Digital embellishments have tons of possibilities for paper scrapping, but with this month's sewing theme in mind, I wanted to bring some fabric into the mix. This cupcake was printed straight onto plain white cotton on my inkjet printer at home. It's a pretty simple process: load your printer with plain typing paper and print the cupcake at the right size (you're going to throw the paper away, so you can print it in black and white or draft setting to save your ink). Make sure you're happy with the size of the cupcake, then cut the plain white cotton to the right size to cover the cupcake but be smaller than the typing paper. Make sure the fabric is ironed so it will go through the printer easily! Use removable adhesive to secure the fabric to the typing paper. Change your print settings to colour and higher quality and print again. You'll need to watch the printer as you may need to help feed the fabric + paper, but once you've got the knack you'll be all set!

From there, I cut around my cupcake with pinking shears and used my sewing machine to stitch the fabric to the card. I stitched around most of the cupcake, then stuffed him with a cotton ball, then finished the stitches and added the rest of the goodies to the card.

Can't wait to make more projects with this great embellishment!
