Project - Summer Days with Surfer Hair
I have this big stack of photos from this week of an island getaway. But there's one problem: every photo that actually includes one of us? It's not very beautiful. Our hair is a mess. If I wore make-up, it melted, so the options are that or none at all. We were living out of backpacks, so our clothes were never ironed. If you look at the pictures from this trip, you would think we were pretty disheveled. So I kept avoiding most of them in my scrapping, and instead turned to the pictures of palm trees and sand and coastlines.
And then I realised: the very fact that we look a bit of a mess says so much about our attitudes that week. We were able to let go of caring so much about haircuts and cosmetics. There must be a reason why so many of the surfers along the beach had that same shaggy hair going on. So instead of putting those pictures back in the stack, I decided it was about time they appeared in the album, along with that very idea of why the beach took away our stress and left us without the worries of reality.
…And also, a whole bunch of summer products! Where I live there's not a lot of summer, so when I have a chance to make something extra-summery, I tend to overdo it with the summer-themed embellishments. Some of these are from this summer's Cosmo Cricket Salt Air collection and others are from last summer's Heat Wave collection by American Crafts.
And that cloud paper is my favourite thing in ages. I've actually used three entire sheets of it in my albums. It's by My Mind's Eye in the Good Day Sunshine collection.
