Project - RIGHT SIDE of American Crafts inspired scraproom by Gemm posted 06/16/06 at 07:59 PM Here's the other side of my new scraproom... IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS ROOM, HERE'S THE LINK -- http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=896830Â PAGE 1 -- my Making Memories paints collection PAGE 2,3,4,5 -- I designed my new room to have both table/desk height of 28 1/2" and kitchen counter height of 36". This way, I have I choice if I want to sit down doing my lay-outs and also standing up when I do my die-cuts. The long countertop has both my printers, fax/scanner, Sizzix & WISHBLADE. Both the corner island unit and the free-standing kitchen cart with 12 drawers which I absolutely love were purchased from IKEA (VARDE series). By the way, all of the upper & lower cabinets and under cabinet lighting with daylight bulbs were all installed courtesy of my DH. My room design would not have been made possible if not for his help. PAGE 6,7 -- huge desk space for doing lay-outs plus lots of storage underneath. PAGE 8,9 -- I keep all my Sizzix collection and also, my Xyron 900 & 500. PAGE 10,11 -- my ribbon collection PAGE 12,13 -- K&Co. stuff (love the packaging) and the under cabinet TV/DVD/CD/RADIO that I requested from my DH. It's pretty compact which I like very much. Also, I have TIVO here in the room so I can record my fave scrapbooking shows. =) PAGE 14 -- Here's where I store my Cricut cartridges for now. Also, there's 2 Cropper Hopper boxes for all my alpha foam stamps. PAGE 15 -- Besides scrapbooking, I also cross-stitch. PAGE 16,17 -- I sort my foam stamps by letters. These are called Cropper Hopper Divided Storage System with 13 divided sections and tabs for labeling. 2 boxes are perfect for the complete alphabet. |

It is gorgious! Did I see it right and are all your sizzix dies still in the packages? How do you keep them upright in the drawer?
Posted 06/16/06 at 11:24 PM
Gemm said...
to sajoer -- yes, all my Sizzix dies are still in their packages. I just stack them slanted one after another so they would stay upright. That way, it's easier to look for a certain die that I need.

You've got some fantastic storage ideas!
2 questions...
#1 - did you buy the stuff first, then build a room to hold it all, or the other way around??
#2 - where do you keep your finished scrapbooks?

Whoa girl! Leave some supplies for the rest of us.
Seriously though, have you considered talking to a doctor about your condition? No one needs that many supplies. You really need to get out of the house and get a job... maybe work at the local soup kitchen or round up shopping carts for the nearby stores. Did you just walk into a store and buy EVERYTHING!?
What have you made with all those supplies? Does you DH know about your compulsiveness?

Thanks everyone for looking and leaving positive comments.
More than scrapbooking, I love to organize and decorate. (You should see my house.) Yes, my husband knows about ALL my stuff because those are all his gifts to me whether it be my birhtday, anniversary, valentine's day, mother's day, etc. Those are all I ask for so my hobby is with his consent. Besides, he installed all the cabinets and we live under the same roof so how could I hide everything? He even reads all your comments here at 2peas about my new scraproom. My DH loves and supports ALL my hobbies because he knows I'm good at them. Scrapbooking is just one of my many hobbies.
To scrapin1964 -- those are wall avenue rub-ons words from www.topline-creations.com.
To miss mayflower -- I designed the room first before I got my stuff. The upper cabinets and IKEA 12 drawer-cart were purchased more than a year ago. There's no exact system for me. My albums are inside one of the mullion door cabinets.

What a great room! I'm in the process of designing my scraproom. I wanted to know what size is your room? I was also just wondering, with all your great supplies stored away as they are, how do you pack for a crop?

I am just drooling over your room, it is to Die For!!
I do have a question also, what are the metal inserts in the drawer where you have your MM paint stored?? Are they just spice drawer organizers??
Thanks!
Posted 06/29/06 at 11:08 AM
Gemm said...
To kcpea -- Yes, those are spice drawer organizers which I got at Marshall's for $4.99 each.
To sunnyjewels -- I believe my room is 10x11 (that doesn't include the closet on one end of the room which are NOT mine). I never pack for a crop. I only scrapbook at home.

Your room is awesome! I don't care what anyone says, you go girl! If I had the money and the means my room would look that way too. It is great to see that your hubby supports your hobbies. Plus, scrapping is so much easier when you are organized and don't have to say... I wish i had... I just hope you only shop on sale or with coupons.

You are very talented at organizing and the room is just beautiful! It does seem like a lot of the items aren't even used. Be careful, it is easy to get caught up in the buying and having and not really making use of the items. It would take years to use that many flowers....."A Creative Mess Is Better Than Tidy Idleness"

thank you Gemm for the information.
I will be looking all around for the items. But will start with IKEA.
One of the problems is that I already have cabnits in the room and long counter for my sewing. I had to decide in a hurry, what kind I wanted. The cabnit person was not patient and didn't listen to me.
I had alot of neat Ideas I wanted. But he wanted to do things his way, same with my kitchen, was not happy with him. I do have a beautiful kitchen, I planned but didn't get all the interior things like premade cabnits, because he didn't do that sort or thing.
Also designed my whole home. So didn't leave alot of time for my craft room.
wanted to do it later, but you know men builders.
That's why I didn't let him go any further and left the wall blank, in my craft room above the counter so I could get what I wanted, later;
and two corners one for computer printer etc. and one for scrapbooking.
I do have storage for my books, sewing, decorating, painting, Art History.
etc. I now have to organize the large cabinet space I had planned for my fabric, but am now using for my stamps which I have an awful lot of. Looking for a better situation for those.
Thanks for the info on the sources. Jeanette
