Project - My New Scrap Space by Sewgaby posted 01/26/06 at 04:48 PM Galleries: Scrapbooking
In Nov of 05 we moved into our current home and I was able to make a little scrap space in our spare room. I previously was scrapping in my dining room (I still have this space in my gallery)

Most of my stuff is hidden away in baskets or boxes. (I like it that way :)The difficult thing about this room is that there were so many doors in such a small space! So I had to figure out how to work with the wall space that was there.

The desk/shelf set is Elpha from The Container Store. The stamp storage behind the door is also an Elpha item that I can add more baskets to if I like. The computer desk is by a company called Dakota Furniture. The baskets above the desk, on the Elpha shelves are from Micheals and I made the liners. These hold most of my embellishments and then there is more stuff in the drawers. My cardstock and pattern paper all go in the IKEA shelf. I cut down the Cropper Hopper vertical files just a tad and they work out perfectly.
Its still a bit of a work in progress...but its working out well for me. Thanks for taking a peek......Irma |

Thanks again everyone for your kind comments.

I got asked a few questions so I will update my comments above later and just answer them here too.

The computer desk is from a company called "Dakota Furniture" I ordered it from a local furniture store so I don't know where you could find it.

The drawer and shelf system is Elfa from The Container Store. They are having a 30% off sale right now and they are online. My drawers are the new Mesh style. The smallest one I have is to the left of my chair and its the "narrow" drawers.

The bookcase is IKEA (also online) and its the Expedit Bookcase (small version) in black. The baskets also from IKEA

The paint color in the house is Lowes American Traditional AJ213-Dusty Trail. Unfortunatly, I don't have the color of the actual scrap room as it was already painted when we moved in and I don't know what color it is.

As far as how I organize...well I try to buy only what I think I will use. And all the stuff is organized in the order of how I scrapbook. Ok...that probably dosen't make much sense, but it works for me.

One of my favorite past times is "pea-ing" and looking at all the great scraprooms in "pealand"! It makes for a nice, quiet Sunday afternoon. I have to admit, your room is one of my favorites. I love the clean look - and if I can trust the colors on my laptop - it looks like your room is mainly in black & white. Those colors lend genuine class to your room! I love it!
