After 6 months and more money that I want to tally up, my dream room is finally complete! Quite a far cry from the tiny corner I had in the old house. I got a lot of my storage ideas and design thoughts from other Peas, so I felt like I needed to "pay it forward" and hopefully help out someone else who had a scraproom dilemma. I have a lot of stuff in the room, but I didn't pay full price for anything and got quite a few sweet deals. Feel free to Peamail me for additional details on any of the items if needed.

1 - an overview of the room taken from the doorway. All the cabinets are Mills Pride from Home Depot, just the basic units, with glass inserts on the uppers. The knobs are the cheapest ones I could find at the store - brushed nickel, but they worked well with the decor. The countertops are standard black Formica, also from Home Depot. They have the raised lip edge which has come in so handy when spilling rolly things. The center island is the Target project table and the rug is from Home Decorators collection. The walls are about the color of Werthers candies. The ceiling beams are about 2 shades darker and the inset panels 2 shades lighter than the walls. I added a new ceiling fan and 8 can lights for nighttime scrapping. With the black and white cabinets, I can pretty much change the paint in this room to any color I want and it'll work. The floor I got a great deal on from a local flooring company - it's "cabin grade" hardwood, meaning it has minor imperfections, but it's hardly noticeable - and especially desirable when you're a klutz like I am and tend to drop scissors on it.

2 - From the opposite side of the room. The L formation of the counters and cabinets has worked great so far. I use the countertops as my work surface (stamping, die cutting, etc) and leave the project table open for assembly and layout. I had to go with cabinets - my toddler is in the room with me while I scrap, and every single door in the room has a toddler lock on it. Which may seem inconvenient to some, but it's minor compared to the damage he's able to do! The counters are "capped" by full-height pantry units on each side (plus another half unit by the entry door).

3 - The wall opposite the L counter. The room had 2 funky insets due to the fireplace coming up from downstairs. I turned one into a built-in computer desk and the other into an armoire. All the cabinets and shelves are standard Mills Pride - we just took the doors off of them to give the shelf look, and added some crown molding for a built-in touch. On the fireplace itself I put up a Pottery Barn Franklin Craft Center.

4 - The computer center. Each adjustable shelf holds a peripheral (fax, printer, Wishblade, etc). The cords run through grommets along the back wall, keeping them out of sight and tangle free. I keep all my CDs in the drawers, along with computer related scrap supplies such as transparencies and photo paper. This station also serves as my work desk (I do interior design consultant work for a local architecture firm). My design and scrapbooking books are on the upper shelves (and I let DH have some room as well).

5 - The Pottery Barn Franklin Craft Center, bought on sale, on the fireplace jut-out. The magnetic chalkboard holds bags of photo groupings that I want to scrap. I also put my sketches and inspirations in there as well. With limited time to scrap some days, it's a lot easier to grab a bag than to sort through boxes.

6 - On top of the craft center, I have my stamp sets that were not easy to break up, like the Michaels $1 stamps, the Hero Arts monogram sets, Gelatins, etc. They're housed in iron bins from the garden section of Hobby Lobby, bought on clearance.

7 - The inside of the craft center. I store all my plastic templates and long rulers in here. On the rods, I have my "not quite ribbons" - the Queen and Co felt, Doodlebug paper accents, etc. On the corkboard sides, I keep small paper things I need

So beautiful! I have plans for my dream room one day and they are close to yours. I always thought a kitchen worked well for scrapping. I learned I like standing to scrap better than sitting and a huge island is the ticket for me. I like lots of drawers of varying depths, but other than that you have brought my dream room to life! Thanks for sharing and I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out that space!
Blessings,

I don't need a new scrap room, but I really enjoyed how clean and "classic" this one is.

Your use of black, white, and that warm neutral wall color really "pop" while still looking timeless. I think you've created a room that appeals to scrappers and non-scrappers alike and that you won't soon grow tired of.

Beautiful job!

I think your studio is awesome. I recently purchase the project/craft table from Target but now it is not one piece (at least yours looks like one piece). It is 3 pieces and it is $550.00. And the shipping wasn't free nor could you buy it in the store. lol.

You inspired me to buy it and luckily I had a gift card. Otherwise I would have been so jealous of you forever lol. Great Great space!
I really do want to know -- did you just go out and spend a ton of money at once or is this an over time type of thing?? How long did it take to get all that stuff??
You have some great organizing skills and ideas!! I need to learn and take tips from you!

WOW! Your room is amazing. I love everything about it. I do have a couple of ?'s for you. Where are the cabinets from? The thing that stores under your target table, do you know if that is still available, did you say it was from target also? Lastly, the really nosey ? that I'm sure every wants to ask but won't.... ( please don't answer if you don't want to)... how much do you think this room cost you to set it up like this? I'm guessing most of our rooms are not quite as large as yours, so we could then figure out how much it would cost any of us. Again your room is great, I want to come play!

I have a question. What size is this scrap room? I am getting ready to redecorate a room in my house as a scrap/craft room. I currently have one, but am moving rooms here shortly. I have an area that is 12' X 18' to work with and am looking at ideas to put in there. I love this room. Of course, mine won't have that beautiful view, but I'm wondering how big this room is.

While crusing the net looking at ideas for storing my sewing/craft/
scrapbooking supplies I came across your 'palacial' room! Double WOW! I am a novice at scrapbooking (although not in age!). Seeing your room has inspired me to learn more and start books for each of my 5 grown children. Although all early photos of the 4 older children were lost in a house fire, I do have plenty taken since then.

I am really intrigued by your ribbon storage system. I can't find any peg clips on e-bay, but think I have found a company which produces something like the ones you are using. Can you tell me if they lock onto the peg board or not?

Thanks again for the inspiration Happy scrapbooking!

I know this has been here for *months* now, but I just have to tell you how gorgeous your new scrap studio is! It is so stylish and functional. It's pure genius how you used the black & white color scheme. I have that same island (Pier 1, right?) only I mix my black island with very dark cherry cabinets and black desk accessories. If I didn't tell you wouldn't know my furniture was 2 different colors. But to put in white cabinets with a black counter top then reverse it on the island (black island, white boxes) is so cool! Thank you for inspiring me to get back to organizing my own space...it's been a bit of a challenge for me! TFS!
