Project - Joy {SOF Resist and Sketch challenges} by Anna-Karin posted 10/12/08 at 12:17 PM Galleries: Stamping, Cardmaking I was planning to use the wax paper resist, and had the stamp picked out (another than the one used here) and the card planned, so I was a bit disappointed when the technique wouldn't work. What I thought was wax paper, was not wax paper. I ironed and ironed but nothing happened. I have never seen anything called wax paper here, but thought this other baking paper I had found would perhaps work. Instead, I did another resist technique that I found in one of the links to the challenge, namely batik resisting. I stamped and clear embossed the image on glossy pp, placed it in the fridge for a few minutes, scrunched it up, misted it with water and brayered ink on top. The ink then got into the folds made in the embossing powder, and also became more darkly coloured in the folds in the paper.

I flipped the sketch for it to work with this stamp. TFL!!

|

Anna-Karin, your card is lovely. I'm glad you didn't give up.

What I've been calling batik resist is just embossing the image, inking the entire piece, and then ironing off the embossing. Maybe I have been using the wrong term. I'll have to check out those links. I like the idea of getting lines in there to look like a real batik.

Thanks for playing.
