Project - Dictionary Poinsettia by Anna-Karin posted 10/16/11 at 07:04 AM Galleries: Stamping, Cardmaking This card is for SOF11 Celebrate Just Because (celebrate a funny holiday in October), SOF11 Combo Card (stamping and another papercrafting technique, Stamping A to Z (D for Distress, F for Florals) and for the Hero Arts October challenge (Holiday card theme). Today (16 October) is Dictionary Day and I used that as inspiration for my card, by using a dictionary page as background. The poinsettia was stamped on the dictionary page, masked and then the leaves were stamped. I used both positive and negative masks to colour the poinsettia with Distress inks using sponge daubers. The word 'poinsettia' was encircled on the dictionary page and inked with a bit of Antique Linen. Seed beads were stitched to the flower centre with golden thread. I also used a bunch of golden threads, tied them together and stitched them down with seed beads. The dictionary page was crumbled up. I thought the flower was a bit dark, so I outlined it roughly with a white gel pen. TFL!! Supplies: Hero Arts stamps: Poinsettia & Berries CG363, Christmas Reindeers CL540; Distress Ink: Peeled Paint, Fired Brick, Aged Mahogany, Antique Linen; metallic gold DMC; gold seed beads; white gel pen. |

Wow Anna. Way to combine challenges! This is lovely and very very creative! The addition of the white outlines is a good call, it definitely draws the eye and really enhances the image. TFS

Love the way you have coloured the poinsetta so it looks well defined but the dictionary page still shows through.

COOL! If you hadn't shared the direct stamping on the page, I'd have thought you did the pointsettia on acetate & layered.
BTW? When I used your content it shows up.

Daniel stole my word! That's the first word that popped into my mind when I saw this card. I love the poinsettia stamped on the dictionary page, and the white outlining looks great. The seed beads add elegance and dimension. Love 'em.
Thank you for participating.

This card is soooo pretty! I love how the words show through the distress ink! How do you make it so distressed, yet so beautiful? My distressing looks just that, distressing!! Eeek! Looks like you tore up a dictionary on Dictionary Day! Haha! I need to get an old dictionary now! Thanks for celebrating odd holidays in Oct. with me!

This is easily one of the coolest cards I have seen all week. The fact that you colored the poinsettia and it is still translucent so that we see the dictionary page is just awesome.
