Thank you Lisa for asking me to contribute to this week's Project Life class! What an honor!
After the first couple of months doing Project LIfe I realized two things.
One, I needed to make it more simple if I was going to stick with it all year.
Two, Doing just one page a week would take the pressure off.
Three, I am using Project Life to document the everyday, this isn't where I really take the time to be super creative. Although I want it cute, more than that I want it done.
For this week I broke out these Ormolu diecuts, and I JUST love them! I love that they can just set the tone for the whole page, and as you can see I allowed them to do just that! I wanted to outline them in black to define them a bit more, so I use Kraft with black as my theme with pops of color from the Pebbles Walnut Grove line. I used the Ormolu diecuts to highlight three of my favorite memories from that week, and thats exactly what Project Life has become to me! I don't feel the need to detail every moment of everyday, just the highlights! I feel like the Studio Calico wood veneer dicuts add a bit of fun to the layout as well while still sticking to the super simple theme!
To organize for the week I edit my photos as I go. 90% of the photos that end up in my PL are ones taken on my iphone. My favorite app lately is skitch for the iphone, it is what I used to create the box around the “fall picture”. To me, adding that simple touch on the photos is one less thing I have to do when I am putting the whole week together.
Another thing I started doing to organize my week is to cut all my scraps down to 4x6. When I sit down to start a week I just grab several 4x6 pieces of paper that go with my pictures or the theme of the week and get started! This makes is super easy to pull other colors in and uses up those scraps!
I have never felt the pressure to make project life an every day project, more like a week in review, so I just jot down notes on things I want to make sure to include in my Erin Condren planner
