Project - All About Me : This Is Me Mini Album
When I started going through photos and trying to choose a few for the All About Me theme this month, I found that they were so diverse that it would have been hard to fit them onto one cohesive layout, so I decided to make a mini album instead!
I started by going through my 4x6 pocket scrapping cards and chose 12 that had full, all-over patterns that I loved and that I rarely get to use in my Project Life album because I use so many photos there. These cards were the starting point for my 4x6 album, and I decided to format my mini book with one of the cards left unembellished on one side of each spread and a 4x6 mini-layout on the other. I used a piece of chipboard (saved from product packaging and the backs of paper pads) as the foundation for each page, and I rounded the corners of all of the pages since some of the cards already came that way and I wanted everything to be of a uniform size and shape.
The cards are from many, many different manufacturers, and I united them with a common color scheme throughout the album, based on the floral card from the Lakeside journaling card pad by Pebbles. I didn't use all of the colors on every page, but each color is repeated on at least a few pages throughout the book. I also used the same Thickers for the title on each page- a woodgrain pattern in the Goodness font, which is one of my favorites. The mini layouts are also all based on the same grid paper- a 4x6 section from a sheet in the Crate Paper Party Day collection. I have the 12x12 pad of this line which contained two sheets of each paper, so I had just enough to cut a dozen 4x6 sections.
When binding my album, I chose to go with a single binder ring in the corner. Since the 4x6 cards are a mix of horizontal and vertical designs and the mini layouts are all vertical, having them attached at just the corner makes it easy to flip through the album and look at the pages in their proper orientations.
You might notice that there isn't any journaling in the album, and that's because as I was making my mini layouts, I realized that they would look a bit busy with extra text added. I decided to type up my journaling for each page instead, and it's included in an envelope that's adhered to the very back cover of the album.
