"Ik hou van jou" heeft een bijzondere en zeer concrete betekenis. Het betekent dat je word omringd met het gevoel dat je toestaat - misschien zelfs van je vereist - om alles te zijn wat je werkelijk bent als mens, op elk moment. Je mag lief zijn of stout, of beide; zachtaardig of boos, of beide, maar je bent jezelf en dat is het enige wat er ooit van je gevraagd of verwacht mag worden. En zo ervaren wij jou in al je schoonheid en in al je lelijkheid. Maar wel als jezelf, niet als wat van je wordt verwacht, of vereist, of hoe je werd gevormd te zijn, maar jij...gewoon jezelf. 
Translation: 
"I love you" means something special and very concrete. It means that you are surrounded with the feeling that allows you - perhaps even requires you - to be everything you really are as a human being, at every moment. You may be good or bad, or both; tender or angry, or both; but you are you, which is the very most we could ever ask or expect. And so we experience you in all your beauty and all your ugliness. But you, not what is expected, or wanted, or were fashioned to be, but you.....just you.
