Project - Altered/Hybrid: Single Sock Keeper

A parenting magazine recently published a tip from a reader who clothespins unmatched socks in her laundry room so she'll know where to find them when the mate shows up. I thought it was a great idea and decided to make our family a sock clip and add my own brand of humor! I have loved Jen Wilson's Laundry Line collection so what better to decorate my laundry room with?
Digital Products Used:
Red & Turquoise background paper: Jen Wilson's Isabella's Laundry Line Papers
Grungy card: Jen Wilson's Scrap-A-Dex Cards (Laundry Line)
Brown stamped flourish line: Jen Wilson's Banner Rub-Ons (recolored from black)
On the scrapped clothespin: Jen Wilson's Boy's Second Six Solids (Laundry Line)
*example image features Jen Wilson's Shimmer Edges recolored to khaki & faded
Craft Supplies Used:
6x6 inch wood board (Hobby Lobby - $1.99)
Mod Podge Matte
I scrapped the sign as a 6x6 inch and had it printed by a local lab in a MATTE finish. I painted the edges of the wood board with a medium brown paint and used Mod Podge to glue the print to the wood. I trimmed the paper edges where needed and then sanded to reveal some of the white paper underneath. Using a dry sponge brush lightly dabbed in dark brown craft paint, I smeared & smudged the edges of the piece. I did the same on the clothespin: paint, glue, sand, distress with paint.
