Terrific tag! The inked background is wonderful with its depth of color, and the stamping adds interest. I love your snow and all the glitter you used. The embossed tree turned out great. I like the snowflake you added to the little girl's hairband. Beautiful tag. TFS. Daria

Inspired by Hero Arts' November Challenges for holiday tags, bling, and a color challenge (pink, pool, green, neutral, and white). And for the Hero Arts holiday themed challenge at Two Peas, along with Two Peas Stamping A to Z T is for… tone-on-tone and T is for… Tim Holtz (part 2).

The tag background is made from a #6 manila shipping tag. I got out my non-stick craft sheet, and applied Broken China (pool) and Worn Lipstick (pink) Distress Inks. Then I misted the ink with water from a mini-mister, until the ink beaded up. I dipped the tag face down in the ink and wiggled it, then turned it right side up and dried it with my Heat It craft tool (heat gun). I repeated until I got the look I wanted. Then I flicked water onto the tag and dried it with my heat tool to create water splotches.

The tree is made from 140# watercolor paper to create a stamped collage. I used a blending tool and foam to apply Bundled Sage (green) Distress Ink using a circular motion from my non-stick craft sheet onto the watercolor paper surface. Then I stamped Hero Arts G3316 Harlequin Block Pattern on top using Tea Dye (brown/neutral) Distress Ink. Over top of that, I stamped Hero Arts H5261 Flourish Trio using Bundled Sage Distress Ink (tone-on-tone). And over top of that, I stamped Hero Arts K5192 Dots using Peeled Paint (green) Distress Ink (also tone-on-tone). Then I flicked gold Perfect Pearls mixed with water to create shimmer and shine.

After the stamped collage was finished, I cut out a tree shape. I used a flourish design from a Tim Holtz French Connection Texture Fades embossing folder set to dry emboss the tree. Next, I used a Tim Holtz / Tonic paper distresser to distress the edges of the tree.

I stamped the sentiment, “Joy,” from Hero Arts CL240 Winter Messages, onto the tag using Broken China Distress Ink (tone-on-tone). Then I distressed the edges of the tag with my Tim Holtz / Tonic paper distresser and then applied Broken China Distress Ink to the edges.

Next I added Stickles glitter glue in Crystal (similar to Diamond) all around the edges of the tag to create a frosty effect. I also used Crystal Stickles to create snow on the tree. I tore white cardstock to make hills and also edged them with Crystal Stickles glitter glue.

While these pieces were drying, I stamped Hero Arts G5331 Girl with Gift onto tan (neutral) cardstock. I used Prismacolor Premier colored pencils to color the girl using pink and pool and white. I replaced the flower in her hair with two Hero Arts CH134 Snowflake sequins and a crystal brad.

When all the pieces were ready, I assembled the tag. The girl is attached with foam tape for extra dimension. I added a pink ribbon and pool-and-white baker's twine from My Mind's Eye's Lime Twist collection (“Together Twine”).

Thanks for looking! :-)
