Albums: Glitter Girl challenges 2013
This is my response to Glitter Girls third challenge on journalling. In this photo, because it was taken so long ago, there is no way of knowing exactly what was going through my sister's mind because not even my parents can remember. The most important things I see though are her happiness, sense of fun, the bright colours and what's with that bag? So the journalling story had to be about those elements.
‘'Despite plenty of research with my parents, no-one can say
for sure when this picture was taken. We know it is in Ringwood
and that Rachel was around 2 or 3 years old. She is holding
a big red patent leather bag from other pictures on that day.
Despite not knowing anything concrete I LOVE this picture
it completely encapsulates my sister’s personality''
Because there is a lot of green in the photo I have seriously kept way from that colour and instead used reds and yellows with a ledger vintage paper, stickers and labels. I wanted to do something similar to Glitter Girl's layout but my photo is 8 x 6 so I planned the placement of the photo and other papers to go on top of 2 large mats of yellow floral and red damazk papers. I then placed the photo near the bottom of the matted papers and added in a 3 inch strip of yellow paper and the journalling bock at the top. I then found three Jenny Bowlin tags in a red polka dot design in 3 sizes which I used as the basis for my embellishments. I found a camera image and some old stickers to use up. I swapped the plain twine to red striped twine on the labels. I added Washi tape onto the layout and placed my embellishments on top of that.
