Love the title!
Project - Maude's Civilized Camping Scrapbook

This layout was inspired by Doris Sander's “Floozie Hair” layout which was included in Masterful Scrapbook Design's “Grids and Blocks” e-book.
I was even able to find a gold beetle which Doris says will be the next trendiest thing. My beetle is from K&Company and Doris's beetle was ephemera carried by Jenni Bowlin.
Story: My aunt and sister visited me recently and we had an afternoon of photographing and discussing old photos and family scrapbooks. My great-grandmother Maude was a bit of a difficult personality - um, well, she was a bit “stuck-up” and her scrapbooks reflect that part of her personality. She and my great-grandfather traveled a lot back in the 1920s and 1930s, they had money at a time when most people didn't have a lot. They wore suits to go camping and rather than sleeping in a tent, they rented fancy cabins. I do appreciate Maude's affinity for photographing things - like the inside of the camping cabin - and that she scrapbooked. These photos were in a wooden scrapbook with craft pages and black photo corners and she even did a bit of journaling and she did attempt humor by using cliches and other play on words for her photo captions. Also, she wore glasses like those in the journaling block with the title and, although I only know her through stories, I'm quite sure she would have found the giant beetle disgusting - which makes me love it on this page.
Supplies: Echo Park; My Mind's Eye; Kaiser Craft; K&Company; 7 Gypsies.
