Awesome photo! Love the chevrons and the star embellishments. And those alphas ARE awesome!
So many cool bits and pieces going on here. That little bit of red is fantastic and I love your thoughtfulness behind the rectangle patterned paper. Love it!
Beautiful. I love the red letters on it. They really stand out beautifully.
Just stunning, love the photo and story and the pop of red with the title!
Oh the stitching is just perfect and I LOVE the colour scheme
I'm always drawn to your layouts. Simply stunning with this color scheme!!
Project - june theme milestones: many the miles
Oh, man. My mama's heart can hardly handle this.
When the theme “milestones” was presented I took awhile to think on it and nothing was coming to mind. One day while picking up the house I came across these old play boots and knew immediately what photo I would scrap. I had been thinking on too big of a scale. These play boots have seen maaaaany the miles, both boys have worn them and this year is the first year that they are too small for either one of them.
Cue sad background music.
Photos like these are the reason I scrapbook. Getting down little pieces of our lives; milestones that may not mean anything to anyone else, but mean the world to me.
With this layout I went bold in some ways and subtle on others. I had to play around with Studio Calico's Atlantic line. Had to. It's quickly becoming a favorite. The small design in the light blue background wasn't too distracting and had lots of mini little rectangles, which in my mind went along with the title. Pieces of constellation vellum peek from under Crate Paper die cuts and the photo.
I choose to stick to a certain color scheme, something that wasn't intentional in the beginning, but came together as I kept scrapping. Light blue, white, black, brown (all pretty neutral) then a bold orangey-red. My original photo had color, but the green in the boots was throwing it off so I swapped it out for a black in white photo, which I think goes good with the reflective nature of the layout.
Everything is centered around the photo, all off to the side. I painted a white 3 sided rectangle and used that as my guide to place papers and photos inside. Once I had that down I choose a couple Pebbles tags with the strings tucked under them for the top and bottom of my photo. Because I was going with such a bold title I kept the embellishments to as much of a minimum as I can ;) I added a couple exclusive Two Peas printables. Love the metal stars from Basic Grey so those got sprinkled along with a few cork arrows. I wanted to add some My Mind's Eye enamel dots (my fave) so instead of placing them randomly I added them under the cork pieces. My journaling was typed on a tag…and it wasn't until I loaded the layout that I realized I left out a word. Oh, well.
THOSE CRATE PAPER ALPHAS. Man, I am loving them. Like I'll need at least two packs. And they can be sewn through easily which is a bonus. A little handwriting (which I am not a fan of, but trying to embrace) was added the beginning of the title and a strip along the bottom.
Thanks so much for looking!
