Project - This is How

This is the layout I created when I was the guest designer for Everything Scrappin'. Suz from the Everything Scrappin' design team gave us the challenge of making a layout about a loved one. For this challenge, we are highlighting Nikki Sivils papers from the Everything Scrapp'n Store. I'm going to be honest here- I was a little worried when I got these papers. I kept thinking, “What am I going to do with bright yellow paper?!?! And I have to make this layout about love?!!! EEk!!” But, then again, I'm a big Project Runway fan, and I had Tim Gunn's voice in my head saying, “Make it work.” So I ordered a little bit of Cosmo Cricket's Early Bird paper to try and help me in this challenge.
My first mission was to distress the yellow Nikki paper with some Tim Holtz Tea Dye ink using my blending tool. This really helped tone down the brightness and make the paper a little more “me.” I am also not a huge fan of cherries, and they were getting in the way of my "show the love" theme for this page, so I covered them up on the tree with some of the Cosmo Cricket flowers. Much better! See? So easy to “make it yours.” Next time you're stumped with a project, just remember to “make it work!”
For this layout, I wanted to find a picture of my grandparents, and was stunned to find only this one photo. The title reads "This is how I will remember them."
Patterned Paper: Nikki Sivils (yellow), Cosmo Cricket (floral)
