Project - Shape Up Your Scrapbooking: Seven
There are all kinds of fun new shapes popular in scrapbooking right now - arrows, triangles, stars, and speech bubbles just to name a few! And when you mix these shapes with old stand-bys like circles, hearts, and squares, you can create a fresh, fun look.
For this spread about my daughter's seventh birthday party, I selected one 5x7 print and severa1 smaller (about 2x3) prints to feature. The enlargement, along with my title and journaling, took up the left side of the spread, and I arranged all the small photos on the right side. Because I knew I wanted to add lots of fun shaped embellishments to the right side, I kept it on a base of white cardstock. To tie the left side in, I used a pink gingham background from Fancy Pants that was light enough to print my journaling on.
Most of the small photos are matted with tags or patterned paper, and I used an assortment of chipboard, metal flair, die cuts, brads and clips to create a festive and colorful feeling amidst the photos. I used similar shapes (but fewer and larger) on the left side of the page, adding a die cut circle matte behind my photo, large Pink Paislee chipboard stars, and die cut arrows.
Don't be afraid to mix lots of various shapes together on a page, especially if the theme is celebration or party related! It's a great way to add lots of color and punch to your layout!
