I love your use of the giant pocket for your journaling. And the grid of circles is adorable!
Soooo many cool details on this page, Lisa! I'm amazed at the subtle touches you add, like layering your title letters.
What an awesome milestone and you created such a beautiful layout! ♥
Awesome milestone for your son! And awesome page to document it :)
Project - Milestones: NJHS
My son recently achieved a milestone in his academic career - getting inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. I was excited to scrapbook the photos I had from the evening induction, but also had other memorabilia I wanted to include on the layout.
I began by creating a large pocket on the right half of the layout using a yellow patterned paper from Elle's Studio. I cut it to 7 x 9.5 and stitched it on three sides to the background cardstock. This pocket was able to hold the event program, a certificate, and several tabbed index cards that I journaled on.
With the pocket in place, I designed the rest of the layout over the top, adding a grid of punched circles and tags, my photos (accented with polaroid-type frames from KI Memories and Heidi Swapp), and lots of little embellishments. One of the reasons I love grid designs so much is the opportunity the provide to add small finishing details in each section - it always puts a dent in my abundant embellishment stash!
I positioned my title vertically alongside the pocket, placing a Pebbles chipboard speech bubble above it to draw attention to it and add weight to that side of the page. I also traced the acrylic letters onto a white lined paper and cut out the matching letters to layer with the title. This step helps the title stand out from the background just a bit more.
