Galleries: Scrapbooking

This week I was excited to create a page for MOMENTS, which is the week we get back to scrapbooking in it's purest form - documenting the small and big stories that make up our lives. Our theme this month is milestones, which might bring to mind big life events like graduation, weddings, and births, but milestones can be mini, too! Little things like learning the multiplication tables, or successfully baking a beloved family recipe, or conquering a goal of speaking in public are all events, that while not life-altering, could be incredibly important and impactful. And they deserve a spot in your scrapbooks!

I chose a small milestone to document on this page about my daughter and a recent school fundraiser. She wasn't initially excited about raising money to run laps at the Jog-a-Thon, but after experiencing the excitement of the event, she ended up having a blast and setting a new goal for herself for the next year. It was cool to see the change in her attitude and outlook and I wanted to capture that on a page.

The design of the page was largely determined by the watercolor dot paper I chose for the bottom half (from Crate Paper's Styleboard collection). I angled everything upward and used lots of directional arrows (wood veneer and rub-ons) to reinforce the page theme of setting goals and looking forward. I pulled all the colors from the dot paper, mixing in embellishments with red, orange, teal, aqua, and yellow. I enlarged one of Wilna's Rain Words cut files for the title, and aligned it on the same slant as the rest of the design.

Thanks for taking a peek at my layout today! Please let me know if you have any questions - I'd be happy to answer them in the comments!
