Project - Your Airshow - for Shimelle's 4x6 Photo Love by JulieKirk posted 07/28/11 at 07:12 AM Galleries: Scrapbooking I was *so* pleased to be invited to guest on the July installment of Shimelle's 4x6 Photo Love class. And, when I knew it meant using *7* photos on my page ... I was equally pleased that I'd just installed a new photo printer! I spun Shimelle's sketch slightly, turning the photo section to fit in my mainly landscape photos, rather than Shimelle's original portrait version. The photos themselves were taken this summer at the airshow which my other half, a big aviation fan, makes a special effort to get to each year. As for me, not such a big aviation fan, well, just as long as the sun's shining and I've got a camera in my hand ... I generally keep out of mischief and let him enjoy his day! The top photo is stuck down to the page but the other 6, I still can't quite believe I fit all 7 on there, the other 6 are attached to the page by what I can best describe as a 'rope-ladder' technique. Here's how I created that photo-ladder: -- I laid out two lengths of House of Three Daily Junque twine approx 40cm long on my cutting mat. -- Next I ran double sided tape around the edges of all 6 of my photos and laid the 1st one, the one visible when the ladder is closed, face down on the mat. -- I lined up the twine down the outer edges of the photo, pressing it into the sticky tape. -- I now added a 2nd photo back-to-back with the 1st trapping the twine between. -- I repeated this two more times, using all 6 photos. -- Finally I tucked the loose ends of twine behind a rectangle of paper, slightly larger than 4x6, which I then fixed to the page and also used it as a handy place to add my journaling. -- To keep the ladder from slipping around in my page-protector I add two decorative discs raised on foam dots, for the bottom edge of the photos to rest on. For someone like me, who's not great with fiddly techniques on papges, this was a good way for me to add extra photos without unnecessary bulk. If you have any questions about this technique, I'll be happy to answer them. Thanks for looking at my page and thank you Shimelle for letting me share in the 4x6 Photo Love! |
