Molly, I think you nailed this assignment! I agree with the cropping comments, but that's not what we're working on so much. Your exposure is dead on, as are you skin tones (I always love looking at your subject's skin...such an amazing job you do!). Your catchlights are nearly centered in her eyes, yet not so large they overtake her pupils. There is definately flat lighting, yet you have just those "hints" of shadows to define (slightly) the edges of her nose, and more noticeably along her jawline. Great job!
I like the different kind of crop on this one. I wouldn't have thought that would work but I really like it. It really makes her right arm stand out while the left has enough showing to not be distracting or bothersome. Great edit and crop on this. You were great before but now with your new camera....holy moly girl!
I wanted to comment yesterday...but couldn't get the gallery to actually SHOW me the photo!
I like the crop of the SOOC better, since it shows both hands, but that is really not the point now is it.
You got great even lighting and nailed the color. I think you did a great job capturing the assignment. I hope to get to mine this week! Actually have to get to my parent's house to do so...I know just he window I want to use.
Great example! I don't see any shadows. The original does seem a bit underexposed, but you did a good job with the processing. I agree that not chopping the elbow would be better technically, but really doesn't bother me too much.
Thanks for the example and she is just a doll...
It doesn't bother me about the elbow, I think while it probably would be technically better with the elbow in the shot, it's implied which is enough for me. The lighting seems good, well exposed. Are her eyes different colors? The first shot they seem different to me.
She's a sweetheart, would like to see more of your stuff!

Here is my example of flat lighting. Settings are ISO 1000, f/2.5, 1/200, taken with my 85mm on 5DII.
And yes, I know the crops are awful!!! The Peppermint Patty bribe apparently only worked for her looking at the camera, not full and happy participation!!
