Project - Fall Theme: 1st Day of 1st Grade
Here in Georgia we may not hit “fall” and fall weather until mid to late October or maybe even November. Actually there have been many Thanksgivings that we have still been running the AC! So when I think of fall it is really in theory and not in reality.
But fall for me is back to school (early August) and all the fun that is for my girls. Cross country, Friday night football, after school activities and being with friends every day. My youngest started 1st grade this year and was ready for school to begin the day kindergarden got out! What can I say, school is her thing. Her first day of school was exciting. She started a day earlier than her sisters so the younger kids would have a chance to walk the halls without all the big kids there. She did not want us to walk her in. I told her she didn't have a choice for that. She has to deal with us until the year she started the same day as her sisters. (So mommy has one more year!!)
I, of course, wanted a layout of her first day of school! To incorporate some fall colors, I pulled from Basic Grey's Hipster collection. The colors are earthy without being too brown. And because it really still is summer here I paired them with blue paint on the background to keep it real.
I was really inspired by the small patterns in the 6x6 paper pad and loved how well they fit into the butterflies I cut in my background. A variety of small embellishments from Pink Paislee, Ormolu and Freckled Fawn helped me to finish the page off.
