Fantastic! Love the crackle paint!
The texture and all the elements make this piece so interesting!
Thanks for sharing the details.

So pretty, love the folder you made and the metal is WOW. So well done, and a great inspiration.

This is so cool! I loved reading how you made it. It sounds like fun! The snowflake and spring like images work great together, never would have thought that! This medal reminds me of a dreamcatcher, love it! TFS :-)

Very effective medal! So fancy! Great details throughout!

Wonderful take on the challenge! I especially like the dangling peacock, eyelash fibers and the crackle bg. Lovely!

I love it, Melissa! I would wear it proudly! And also love your 'medal holder'!

This is my medal for our Send YOU swap #3.

The first photo is the “holder” for the medal. It served to also protect the medal during mailing. It's the Inkadinado bottle and flower stamp and I used Martha Stewart punch around the page punch to punch out the flower's head for the button I made to go through.

I cut a 3“ circle out of cereal box and painted with Tim Holtz crackle paint; let dry.

I took a snowflake rubber stamp (Inkadinkado I think) and loaded it with Versamark ink pad and set it aside for future use. I then took a lapel pin that I received free from JCPenney's this past holiday season that they were handing out (I think it had a picture of an elf on it with a green BG) and I pressed it into Versamark ink pad. I then heat embossed with Zing! white EP. I did this over and over about 7 times until a nice, thick layer of EP was on the pin. Then I took the rubber snowflake stamp I set aside, and pressed it into the warm, liquid EP thus leaving the impression.

I clipped the stick pin off the lapel pin backing and glued to the 3” circle. I covered up the green BG with grey hemp chord and glued in place.

I cut out the bird, butterflies, “tree” (“DecoEtch die ”Fluttering Wings and “Forest Foliage”, Vintaj from Sizzix) with my Cuttle bug and colored them with Mementos stamp markers and TH distressed inks. I glued them in place and added a little bit of craft foam under a couple of the tree branches for dimension.

I used Satura white gel pen to add white dots around the butterflies and I added glossy accent to the butterflies.

For the “ribbon” of the medal, I made the beaded fringe with tube and seed beads. I stringed the beads on both raffia and sewing thread for added strength—I knotted this fringe in places. I added thing pieces of raffia and I added white fringed thread. Lastly I hung a shrink-dink that I had stamped a peacock stamp on before heat strinking.

Colored the edges of the medal with grey marker to “hide” cereal box edging. Backed the back with white CS.

Lots of fun to make—though I was stumped at first, but I just followed different ideas and ended with this medal! :)

TFL!
