I LOVE your room!! Your color is beautiful!! I love your white furniture.
So nice! What a beautiful room! So inspiring!
That is exactly how I want to to do scrap area. Except one thing, you did so much better on $$$. The desk I found was more than your cost.
I am thinking of making my own desk so save $$.
Thanks for sharing.
What an AMAZINGLY gorgeous, well-ORGANIZED, AWE inspiring room!
OMG! I just saw this via another thread....This is exactly what I've been looking for. I hope you don't mind if I show my hubby and try and duplicate it....Whoever wrote that you should be in business for this is RIGHT....He will not believe that you only spent $300!! I have a Dormer and another window to contend with, angled ceilings, etc....Sigh....WOW, just WOW!!
$300 plus the price of a ticket to get you here and I can have that? I'm cal;ing my travel agent tonight!
Project - My Pottery Barn-ish Scraproom (trying this again)
posted 06/09/05 at 10:16 PM
I hope this works- I haven't posted in the gallery for a long time and I can't quite remember how to do it! Okay, so like everyone else, I like the Pottery Barn look. However, it is way outta my price range. Fortunately, my dh is a handy kind of guy. I've spent a year putting together a scraproom that would be that cottage-y PB look but at a fraction of the price. I spent around $300 for the whole room- basically anything painted white is included in that amount, desk, hutch, shelves etc. (supplies not included but don't tell dh!) This is my version of style on a budget.
#1 is an overview of my L-shape desk. It is 10.5 feet one direction and 8 feet the other direction and 32” deep.
#2 is my layout shelf. I made it by attaching the clips from clipboards on the wood. I put all my recently completed layouts here so I can enjoy them before putting them into albums.
#3 is a closeup of how clips are attached
#4 is the left side of the desk.
#5 the little drawer units are from Ikea, Fira series. I painted them white and attached MM label holders. All drawers are labeled with contents. This keeps everything close at hand but keeps it from looking cluttered. Just bought inexpensive shelf from Home Depot and ran it across the tops of all units in both directions.
#6 The left side shelf- all shelves are made with the leftover plywood from the desk top and some beadboard from HD. Tan drawer unit is from Super Joann’s and I use it to store all my layouts in progress. Photo boxes are all different patterns purchased on clearance then painted with the same color as the wall to make them blend in and match the space.

#8 Right side shelf. I painted inexpensive cardboard magazine holders and attached the same MM label holders to them with brads.
#9 Closeup of the little plastic bottles that hold my metal embellishments. Underneath is the rod that used to hold my spools of ribbon until I switched ribbon storage.
#10 ribbon storage box and flower jar- both from ideas from awesome peas! Thanks!
#11 Right side of desk- this is my daughter’s area or for a guest to scrap with me.
#12 Magnet board. I collect vintage rhinestone jewelry and made magnets out of old clip earrings that don’t have a match. Just glued the back of the clip to a magnet then use the clip to hold small items.
#13 Paint holder. I will someday store stamps in this too but right now my 5 year old daughter will just grab the stamps out and make a mess so they have to be put away. Just made this with pine boards and beadboard backing.
#14 Right end. Each end of my desk is supported by cheap-o bookcases from Home Depot. On the left end everything I store there is completely out of sight so I put hard-to-store items there.
#15 The corner between the wall and closet has a small desk and shelves that used to house my computer but will now be a dedicated sewing area or possible additional guest scrap spot.
