Project - Themed Layout: Remember Winter 1969

Galleries: Scrapbooking

I scrap because I want to remember. I want to pass on stories of my childhood and my ancestors to my children and someday my grandchildren. I don’t keep a journal, but I do scrapbook…which is like having a fancy journal with pictures.

To create this layout I used Photoshop CS2. I also used a one of my new kits that was released on January 1st, 2007 that doesn’t appear in the supply list below. It is the brush kit called “A Traveling We Will Go.”

1. Open a new 8.5 x 11 document. Open the polka dot paper in the 2 Peas Amore kit and using the move tool (or copying and pasting) drag it onto your layout.

2. Open the red & pink diamond paper in the 2 Peas Amore kit and using the move tool (or copying and pasting) drag it onto the bottom of your layout so that it covers the bottom 1 ½ inch of your layout.

3. Open a new layer above the diamond paper layer. Using the rectangular marquee tool (M) draw out a skinny rectangle, approximately ½ inch tall and long enough to span the page. Fill it with your background color.

4. Using Free Transform (Control T) rotate that rectangle you just made so that it is at an angle just above the diamond paper. Hit enter to accept that transformation.

5. Open the black script on red paper that is in the 2 Peas Amore kit. Using the move tool (or copying and pasting) drag in onto your layout. Use a clipping mask (Control G on the PC; Command G on the Mac) to group it onto the rectangle that is at an angle. I also used Free Transform on the paper to make the words go at an angle. To learn more about Grouping (PSE) or Clipping Masks (PS) look in the digital section of 2 peas for tutorials on both of those commands.

6. Using the move tool (V) drag on (or copy and paste) the black script on red paper from the 2 peas Amore kit onto the top ½ inch of your layout.

7. Open the black scalloped border from the 2 Peas Sheer Delight kit and drag it on just below the black script on red paper.

8. Open a new layer and use the marquee tool (V) to draw out at long skinny rectangle that will go right above the scalloped border. Fill it with your background color. Open the striped paper from the 2 Peas Amore kit and using your move tool (or copying and pasting) drag it onto your layout. Use a clipping mask (Control G) to group it onto the rectangle.

9. Use a 2 Peas Borderlines frame to go around the outside of your layout and use a line from the Borderlines kit to go above the angled strip at the bottom. Copy that layer and put another line at the bottom of that strip.

10. Use stitching from the 2 Peas Joined at the Hip & Joined at the Hip V.2 to add at the top and bottom of your layout.

11. Open the lined scalloped paper from the 2 Peas All is Calm. To make it white, I used the Levels command and white point eyedropper to make the paper white.
