Project - Kenny Wayne Shepherd Concert

Project - Kenny Wayne Shepherd Concert
by SouthernArt

I've been wanting to scrap these pics since the concert in March! I finally got around to it and actually decided to submit it to the Paperkuts page call for fans. Excuse the dark pics...it was hard to get a good one. It looks much better IRL!

Patterned Paper: Karen Foster Design
Decorative Paper: vellum - unknown
Cardstock: Top Line Creations
Stickers: 3L black photo corners
Rubber stamp ink: Stampin' Up! black ink
Fasteners: Doodlebug eyelets
Computer fonts: Courier New
Other Supplies: Making Memories Rub-ons "Rummage"

The photo in the bottom left corner of my journaling is actually a reduced photo copy of the cd cover the band signed that night.

No one but fans would pick up on this, but I chose my color scheme b/c of one of Kenny Wayne Shepherd's most popular relases - "Blue on Black".

I didn't have room for all of my pictures, so I created a little flip book at the top of the right-hand page. In it, I put pics of the rest of the band signing our cd and also pictures of the lady I met with Kenny Wayne Shepherd & Noah Hunt.

Journaling reads:

For our 8th anniversary, we planned a trip to Memphis just to hang out for the weekend. By chance, I looked at an online event calendar to see if anything interesting was going on that weekend. When I saw that Kenny Wayne Shepherd – one of my favorites since seeing him & Noah Hunt at Memphis in May in 1999 – was going to be at Tunica that Friday night, I knew we’d have to go!

After a long and frustrating ride to the Horseshoe Casino that started out with me leaving our tickets at work and having to go find a way into my locked office and ended with us getting there about 45 minutes into the concert, we finally got to our seats. Kenny & Noah (and the rest of the band) were putting on an awesome show, and we were having a great time just being there.

Toward the end of the concert, I decided that I would run up to the stage to try to get a good shot of Kenny or Noah. I had every intention of coming right back to my seat, but after I got up there and took a picture or two and no one told me to leave…well, I just had to stay! Brandon had no desire to come down front, but he didn’t mind me being down there, so I stayed. I was only a few feet away from my favorite guitarist and my favorite singer, and I was having a blast!

The rest of the concert was so much fun! I was already in a great mood by the time it was over, but it got better! After the concert ended, they announced that the band would be signing autographs. WOW! Not only did I get to be right at the stage for part of the concert, but now I was going to get to meet Kenny Wayne Shepherd!

Brandon and I ran out to the car and got our digital camera. We bought Kenny’s latest album and got in line, where we met a really nice couple that was behind us. They were huge fans and had been to see Kenny several times. When she saw that we had our camera, she was so disappointed that she didn’t have hers so I offered to e-mail her some photos. That made her day!

At midnight – an hour after getting in line – we were standing in front of Kenny Wayne Shepherd & Noah Hunt. It was so cool! While they signed our cd, I asked permission to take their picture, but what I got was an offer to have my picture made with them. Brandon still teases me about how I couldn’t stop smiling. What a fun anniversary trip!!!
