Project - Design School: Proportion: Little Girl, Big Life by Shannon Tidwell posted 09/05/11 Galleries: Scrapbooking Proportion: the relationship of one thing to another in terms of quantity, size, or number; the ratio Proportion is something we are constantly striving to find the balance with in scrapbooking. Whether you are looking for an even balance or an extreme. On this layout, I went for the extreme. I decided that instead of using a large title, or a large photo I wanted to use a large embellishment. If I had coupled this with a large photo, or large title the impact wouldn't be as great. So I went with a small photo (4x4) and a small title. To create this embellishment I used my Silhouette. I had the design in mind and searched through their extensive gallery until I found what I wanted. I sized the flower how big I wanted it, BIG. Then I cut it first out of black cardstock. I used the outline of the black on my layout and adhered it in place. Then I grabbed a few patterned papers. One at a time I cut them with the same shape, then I pulled the inside pieces off and placed them inside the black one. I would scatter them around a bit and then cut another paper, piece in the small petals, and repeat until I had it filled. I did adhere a few of the petals with pop dots. The center of the flower is a metal badge. I used some curled up tape to hold my photo on. Cut some strips for the title stickers. Then I journaled on a little card and tucked it behind the photo. A sprinkling of sequins and I was done. Oh, I did do some inking around the edge of the layout, too. |
