Project - Themed Projects: "Cute as a Bug"

..way overused title/phrase, but I really wanted to use one of the bugs on this.. so what can I say? ..sometimes, the overused stuff works best.. ;-) ..lol.. ..this is my mom, btw—the 9 months is actually just a guess, as her age wasn't noted on the back of the photo.. could've been as few as 6 months, but she was rather petite, so it might even be a bit more.. :-p ..but who cares? ..she's just so darned Cute!! ;-) ..hehe..

1. Most everything was inserted and then resized or cropped, drop-shadows added, some things (mostly the background papers) “burned” with the dodge/burn tool to add a little more dimension.

2. To make the dotted circles, use periods and shaped text (Text>Insert Shaped Text>select the donut-like shape and type in multiple periods—I like using Century Gothic for the font)—-I used a Wacom tablet & pen to create the dots behind the ladybug. To give the straight ribbon the illusion of folding around the purple paper, burn the ends slightly (Touchup>Other Photo Repair> Dodge and Burn Brush).

3. To create the circle, insert a shape (Insert>Shape>select the circle) remove the fill color and increase the thickness of the outline to around 15-20, then “fill” with patterned paper (Effects>Fill With Texture or Color>Picture>select an image from your files). Do the same thing with the journaling circle—fill with patterned paper.
